Stow Youth Elite Sports, Inc.

Mission Statement

Stow Youth Elite Sports Inc. (Stow YES) is a non-profit registered 501c(3) organization comprised of volunteers who are focused on the instruction, coaching, support, and development of all participants in the sport of fastpitch softball. The design of the program is to provide a positive and meaningful experience to the participants while encouraging ongoing interest and athletic development in the sport. The board members, volunteers, parents, players, coaches, managers, and spectators will adhere and follow the Six Pillars of Stow’s Character Counts Program – Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship.

League Structure

  1. Instructional (I League) – 6-7-8 year olds
  2. A League – 8-9-10 year olds
  3. B League – 11-12 year olds
  4. Travel League (Ohio Fever) – 10U, 12u, 14u, 16U, 18u Teams

Detailed League Information:

 

  • I League – An introductory fast-pitch softball league specifically designed for 7 and 8 year old girls.   Coaches focus on teaching the players the fundamentals of the game which will aid in their softball development. The season consists of 14 games beginning with the first seven being coach pitch and the last seven player pitch.  Games are played on Tuesday and Thursday nights. No scores or standings are kept as the purpose is for girls to enjoy themselves and begin to develop an understanding of the fundamentals of the game of softball.  The season is capped off by the “Tomorrow’s Stars” event.  Girls pitch from a distance of 30’ and the bases are set at 60’.  Each player receives a jersey, shorts, socks and a personalized visor.

 

  • A League – A fast-pitch softball league for girls under the age of 10.  Coaches continue to build upon the fundamentals taught at the instructional league level.  The season consists of 14 regular season games, a year end tournament, and an All Star game.  Standings are maintained.  Games are played on Monday and Friday nights.  Teams play a variety of communities in the nearby area. The main goals for this league is for the girls to enjoy themselves and continue to develop the fundamentals of throwing, catching, fielding, hitting and base-running.  Girls pitch from a distance of 35’and the bases are set at 60’.  While Stow YES rules apply, the league is sanctioned by the NSA. Each player receives a jersey, shorts and socks.

 

  • 12U Rec –

 

  • Travel League – Stow Yes has travel softball teams called the Ohio Fever. These teams offer girls the opportunity to further develop their skills at a more competitive level. Currently, we have10U, U12, U14, U16, and U18 level teams.  Try-out information will be posted in July for those desiring a higher level of competition. For more information, please click here.

Communities Participating (I, A, B, C Leagues)

Stow, Streetsboro, Cuyahoga Falls, Hudson, Woodridge, Kent, and North Akron.

Additional League Amenities

  1. I League – Each player receives a participation trophy and a specially colored shirt themed “Tomorrow’s Stars.”
  2. A League – Season ending tournament – these league participate in a single elimination tournament after the conclusion of the regular season.  Tournament champions and runner ups in each league receive a medal and shirt.
  3. A,League – Accolades for Regular Season Performance – Trophies are presented to all 1st and 2nd place teams in their respective leagues.
  4. A,League – All Star Game – Each participant receives a medal.
